Ambe Phytoextracts based in Garwhal in North India, manufactures herbal extracts, fruit and vegetable powders, and healthcare products for the nutraceuticals, food supplement and cosmetic segments. All its products are manufactured from raw materials selected for quality. Established in 2007, it has modern technology and maintains good manufacturing practices and stringent quality control of raw materials. Ambe Phytoextracts is an exporter of both ingredients and finished health, nutraceutical, and food product. It is currently examining the possibility of launching some of its inputs and products to developed markets.

At Fi Hi India 2021 at Pragati Maidan, Delhi, Health TekPak visited Ambe Phytoextracts stand and met Rahul Bhadula, vice president of Business Development and Shashi Chandrama Singh, senior manager, Project and Regulatory of the company.

Rahul Bhadula said that Ambe Phytoextracts deals with phytoextracts, neutraceuticals, and proprietory formulations used to supplement the health and food industry. Moreover, it is a third party or contract manufacturer for food and cosmetic companies. Ambe’s manufacturing unit is located at Pauri Garhwal in Uttrakhand, mystical land of mountains and mythologies.

When we asked Bhadula and Singh about the Propak India 2021 show, Singh said, “Propak India is a significant international processing and packaging trade show. An ideal venue for market trends and industry networking, it’s been great to come back to a physical format. We can see competency here, which adds value to the show.”

Rahul Bhadula said, “The pent-up demand of the last two years is showing here, now. There is a demand for new products, especially natural and herbal products. We can see increasing demand for herb-based products, which can generally supplement daily food routines. This Propak 2021 again gives us a chance to meet with the industry colleagues and customers again.”

According to Ambe Phytoextracts, its customers are generally looking to add value to their products – “In the last 20 months, consumers are looking to boost their immunity against infections. Even if they are eating chocolates or biscuits, there should be an immunity booster – chocolate with bacopa or amla, for both taste and health benefits.”

We asked the pair of how they see the industry after the pandemic? Bhadula said the pandemic opened the gate of opportunity globally. “The demand for nutraceutical products has risen – exporters and traders are coming with queries. The economy seems to be recovering and we are looking at some innovations and customization needs.”

Speaking about specific changes in the nutraceutical industry, Singh explained that earlier nutraceuticals were delivered as capsules, tablets, and powders. “However supplements can be added in our wheat flour, bread, and beverages. People nowadays are proactive toward their health. They want fewer calories, low-fat but highly nutritious food. In the morning, they can have green tea, at night, drink a latte.”

As we all seek to eat fewer capsules and medicines, nutraceutical ingredients and supplements offer a new path in daily life. Ambe claims it is taking us toward a healthier future by helping the industry produce and customize more effective and modern food and beverages.
