UK authorized the emergency use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine for the immunization drive against the Covid-19 virus on 30 December 2020. The vaccine, developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, can be stored at a temperature of 2-8 degree Celsius as compared to the Pfizer vaccine, which requires storage facilities to maintain a temperature between -70 to -80 degrees Celsius.

The Oxford vaccine shows the efficacy of 62% in people who are given two doses and 90% in people who are immunized with one-and-a-half doses of the vaccine.
